Letter Writing...

This month we have been learning about the writing form of Letter Writing. The children have learned about the parts of a letter, how a letter is delivered and the importance of writing a letter. Today was a special day because we actually walked to the mailbox and mailed a class letter to a teacher at the school. The students were so excited as we addressed the letter, put a stamp on it and then finally delivered it to the box. The GREAT surprise of the walk to the mailbox was seeing the mail carrier on her route. She was so kind to show us her truck and how the letters are stacked/organized in the truck. She also showed us how she carries the letters and talked about her job. The students loved the experience! They will now be writing letters to the other Grade 1 class at school. Today they picked names and we will begin creating lovely letters to delight the other grade 1's! Learning is so much fun! :)
