Welcome October!

Happy October! Are we really in the second month of school already? Wow! Thank you to all the parents that came to the curriculum night. It was a great night to meet you all and talk about the great things your child will be learning in Grade 1. This month is a busy one for our class! On October 3rd, we had a Dairy Educator come in to talk about the farm and the differences in the seasons. We also have a field trip planned on October 18th to Andrew's Scenic Acres. This will be a fun outdoors trip to learn of plant life, seasonal changes and learning about farm animals. In Language, we continue to use reading strategies to develop our reading skills. Please be sure your child is reading at home every night! It is essential that they are reading in order for them to advance as readers! In Writing, the students are writing simple sentences, and learning about capitals and punctuation. In Math, we are working on our number relationships and printing our numbers as well! In Science, we are exploring our five senses and in Social Studies we are learning about community and our families.
