Welcome to Grade 1 and 2!

My name is Kathy Malenkovich and I have the privilege of teaching your child this year in my Grade 1/2 class. I have been at Valleyfield Junior School for the past 8 years. I am looking forward to a great year with your child--filled with fun memories and great learning!

With the start of this new school year, I would like to request some items that would be very useful for your child in the class. Please provide your child with a water bottle that they can have access to throughout the day. It would also be appreciated if your child could bring in a box of tissue that way there will be tissues available whenever they need it. Accidents and spills do happen so it would be handy if students would have extra clothing that could stay in their locker. Finally, children should have a pair of indoor shoes along with their outdoor shoes.

In the coming week, your child will receive an agenda that we can use as a communication tool between school and home. I will also be assessing your child’s reading level and will be sending leveled books home for your child to read each night for homework. More information about the home reading program will come to you shortly!
