What are we doing in Grade One this month?:)

It's the love month! Happy February! In Grade One, we are having a fun and busy month! Some great events included our Dance-a-thon on February 6th, our skating dates which will be on February 17th and the 24th and of course we will be having a Valentine's Day party on February 12th. In Language, the children will be learning about procedural writing and create their own step by step plans. The children are also still working on punctuation and will now be learning how to use bigger and better words in their writing. The children worked hard to finish their research reports and now they will have the opportunity to create a board to display and present their work to the class. In Math, we are completing our 2D/3D geometry unit and will soon be learning about Data Management where we will be doing surveys, writing up tally marks and recording our work on bar graphs. Along with graphing, we will use this math concept in our Social Studies when we discuss the different community workers in our neighbourhood and graph our findings. A reminder please that children need to be reading each night and filling out their reading records. Thank you for your support parents/guardians!
