Happy January!

This month has been flying by, although we did have a slow start due to the ice storm and no buses! In class this month we are learning about the writing form of Procedural Writing! The children have been writing step by step writing pieces from How to Make a Snowman to How to Make a Sandwich. The students are also practicing more of their writing skills in Reading Responses and Journal Writing. It's exciting to see how much more they are doing and now editing their own work! In Math, we are learning about 2D and 3D geometric shapes along with Math Word Problems. Our new Science unit is "Energy" and our new Social Studies unit is "The Local Community". A reminder that the children are now reading 15 minutes each night. Also, you may notice that they are bringing home more work each night. Mondays: Spelling Sentences/ Tuesdays: Printing (for those that need the extra support)/Wednesdays: Journal reading/Thursdays: Math.
