Our first week in Grade One!

We have had a great week learning the routines, rules and ways of Grade One! This first week, the students have been reviewing simple addition using counters, pictures and playing math games. We also are reviewing our phonetic sounds for each letter of the alphabet (we will be doing "E" and "F" on Monday). The children also did some simple printing of words we know. I have been assessing the children's reading levels and on Monday we will start with our Homework Reading Program. You will find a book bag in your child's backpack with information about the program! We will also start our spelling lists on Monday too-a note will come home with the words and we have our spelling tests each Friday. A reminder that students need to have indoor shoes, and a water bottle to keep at their desks. Tentatively, our weekly schedule consists of Monday: Art, Tuesday: Gym, Wednesday: Gym and Library, Thursday: Gym and Friday: Library. Looking forward to what week two has in store for us!=)
