A Great Story!

In our class we've been doing some narrative writing. The students were given a photo and have been using that photo as inspiration for their stories. We have been working on setting, similies, adjectives, problem and solutions. The kids have been working for weeks on them and the final products are sounding so interesting and exciting! Here's a great one from a Grade 2 student in my class...enjoy! The night was as dark as a chalkboard. The shooting stars are as tiny as pebbles. The cold air was blowing threw the bare trees. The fog was as thick as ice. "Why is the house rumbling?" said Emma in her cold, dark room. She was worried and she went to get her big brother. She told him what was happening. They went to Mom and Dad's big bedroom. Then the house took off! Alex and Emma started screaming! The cold wind blew in the bedroom window. The house took them off the snowy ground. They went into space! How could they get back down to earth? They sat in their floating house for a week. One day, the kids had an idea! They tied a rope on a rock and tossed it down to earth. "Hold on tight!", said Mom. They went so fast like a tornado spinning around and around. Finally the rock hit the house's spot in the yard. They chained the house to the ground. So it can't go anywhere ever again. The house never took off again and everyone had a good sleep in that house from then on.
